Filament Winding

Advanced filament winding can become very challenging as speed, consistency and quality control are necessary to reach a good level of performance.

Synthesites has significant know-how on monitoring filament winding applications mainly using our Optimold system in combination with flexible sensors placed at the edge of the wound part. Using special slip-ring devices the signals can be transferred from the winding part in an oven to outside monitoring the cure evolution through the thickness of the part. In this way, in the development phase a curing cycle optimisation is possible based on real measurements while it is also possible for critical parts to maintain the monitoring at production level to ensure that the parts are produced according to the plan.

Furthermore, a pot sensor can be placed in the resin bath to check and control the chemical aging of the mixed resin.
